What I Have to Give

In church today, we sung a hymn with the line "because I have been given much, I too must give" (http://youtu.be/vuyId4VTotA).

I have been given so much, and so much of what I have has come as a result of my knowledge of Jesus Christ and the restoration of His gospel. So, I too must give.

Acts 3:6: The Audiovisual Version

As though it were in response to the creation of this blog, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or Mormon church, has created a new Bible video that illustrates the very verse of scripture that inspired the publication of this blog.

I couldn't help but share it!

Acts 3:6

The story of the Apostle Peter healing a lame man who daily sat in front of the temple asking for alms has inspired me to always give what I am capable of giving.

Peter, along with his fellow Apostle, John, noticed  a lame man who sat in front of the temple begging for money. With Christ-like action, Peter called upon the man, and tended to his needs. Though the beggar was asking for something the Apostles didn't have, they gave what they did have:

"Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.

"And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength." (Acts 3:6)

While we can't solve every problem we face in this world, we are capable of solving some. Peter wasn't going to end poverty, but he did restore a man's health. All too often we focus on what we are incapable of accomplishing. But such a focus only leads to low expectations, frequent disappointments, and largely unfulfilled lives.

However, in this blog, I want to focus on what I can do. And while I don't have many resources or talents of my own to offer, I do have a testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ. In this capacity, I wish to share my knowledge and conviction that Jesus is the Christ, that in the modern era his Church was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith, and that his Atoning Sacrifice does and will bring us peace in this life and happiness in the life to come. Indeed, I hope to stand with Peter and say "such as I have give I thee."
